DAY 1 ­- DEPART USA
Depart your home city for Los Angeles where you'll board a non-stop wide-bodied jet bound for Melbourne, Australia.

DAY 2 ­ EN ROUTE
Enjoy the amenities on board as you travel across the Pacific and cross the International Dateline, skipping a day ahead of your friends back home. (Meals)

DAY 3 ­ SYDNEY
After completing land formalities on arrival at Sydney, you'll be transferred to your hotel in the center of the city. Begin to explore the city, using your 3-day Sydney Explorer Pass, a great way to see 25 of the most interesting attractions in and around Sydney on your own. Travel the Explorer bus with commentary - you can get on and off as often as you like. This evening, take the evening Harbour Ferry Cruise, included in your pass, from Circular Quay, for a view of the city lights. Overnight: Sydney

DAY 4 ­ SYDNEY
Board an Explorer Bus from either Circular Quay or the stop nearest your hotel for city sightseeing on your own. From Circular Quay you'll tour past the famous Opera House, the Botanical Gardens, Mrs. Macquaries Chair, to Kings Cross area and back across the city through Paddington with its wrought iron terraces, to Darling Harbour. Your Sydney Pass also includes the Bondi Explorer Bus to famous Bondi Beach. Overnight: Sydney

DAY 5 ­ SYDNEY - ALICE SPRINGS
Depart Sydney for Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for the night. There is time to explore Alice Springs on your own. Overnight: Alice Springs

DAY 6 ­ OUTBACK ADVENTURE
Travel by mini-coach across the spectacular outback country to Kings Canyon. Experience a guided walk up and along the Canyon Rim. This evening you'll camp at King's Creek Station. (Sleeping bag can be provided for your outback adventure) Overnight: King's Creek Station L, D

DAY 7 ­ KINGS CANYON TO YULARA
After breakfast, travel to Yulara and set up camp at Ayers Rock Campground. Later you'll hike through the Valley of the Winds at Kata Tjuta (Olgas) and view Uluru (Ayers Rock) at Sunset. Overnight: Ayers Rock Campground B, L, D

DAY 8 ­ ULURU AYERS ROCK
You'll enjoy breakfast and watch the sun rise over Uluru, as the aboriginals call what we know as Ayers Rock. Tour the base of the rock, with a walk to Mutitjulu waterhole, where generations of aboriginal have drunk from the waters, and climb the rock, weather permitting. Learn about the aboriginal legends from cave paintings and at the Cultural Centre. Time for optional Aboriginal tours, flights, swimming. Overnight: Ayers Rock Campground B, L, D

 

DAY 9 ­ YULARA ­ COOBER PEDY
Travel 800 kilometres today to Coober Pedy, South Australia, Opal Capital of the World. Make several stops at famous outback roadhouses: Curtin Springs, Erldunda, Kulgera, Marla Bore and Cadney Park. Tonight you'll stay underground at Coober Pedy, the world's opal mining hot spot. Overnight: Cooper Pedy B, L, D

DAY 10 ­ COOBER PEDY ­ OODNADATTA TRACK
Have a guided look around the township of Coober Pedy with free time for "noodling" (opal fossicking) and then cross the desert on a dusty track to William Creek. Overnight Camping on the Oodnadataa Track tonight. B, L, D

DAY 11 ­ OODNADATTA TRACK TO ANGORICHINA
Discover the desert scenery along the Oodnadatta Track and check out the Ghan Railway Ruins. See the Lake Eyre salt flats below sea level and aboriginal ochre pits. Travel through rugged Parachilna Gorge. Overnight: Angorichina Bunkhouse B, L, D

DAY 12 ­ ANGORICHINA TO WILPENA POUND
Hike to Blinman Pools in the Flinders Ranges and travel the impressive back roads in the Flinders Ranges. There is a choice of hikes at Wiping Pound. Overnight Camping at Wilpena Pound. B, L, D

DAY 13 ­ WILPENA POUND TO ADELAIDE
There is time for hikes, early morning in hot weather. Then it's on to the historic town of Quern and the Clare Valley wine region, finally arriving Adelaide at about 7:00 PM.
Overnight: Adelaide B, L

DAY 14 ­ ADELAIDE
After your trek through the outback you'll enjoy a day to poke around the very civilized capital of South Australia. Adelaide has a variety of cuisines with more restaurants per capital than any other Australian city. Overnight: Adelaide

DAY 15 ­ MELBOURNE ­ USA
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Melbourne and then it's homeward bound. Arrive in Los Angeles the same day, having gained time when you re-crossed the International Dateline. Continue with onward connections.
