DAY 1 ­ MONDAY - DEPART USA (Departure day is determined by the schedule of The Indian Pacific Train.) Leave today for the land "down under." Depart your home city for Los Angeles where you'll board a jet bound for Melbourne, Australia.

DAY 2 ­ TUESDAY - EN ROUTE
Enjoy the amenities on board as you travel across the Pacific and cross the International Dateline, skipping a day ahead of your friends back home.

DAY 3 ­ WEDNESDAY - ARRIVE SYDNEY
Early morning, you'll arrive at Sydney, New South Wales. Upon completion of land formalities, proceed to the public area where you'll transfer to your hotel in the heart Sydney. Afternoon sightseeing will introduce you to the city and harbour of Sydney Overnight: Sydney

DAY 4 ­ THURSDAY - SYDNEY SIGHTSEEING
Explore Sydney at your own pace. Using your three-day Sydney Pass you can take cruises of the beautiful harbour or use the unlimited harbour ferry travel including the Manly ferry, Zoo ferry, JetCat and Hydro-foil services. The Sydney Explorer bus connects 25 of the top tourist attractions of the city and you can get on and off as often as you like at each of the stops. Overnight: Sydney

DAY 5 ­ FRIDAY ­ SYDNEY OR OPTIONAL BLUE MOUNTAINS
Continue to use your Sydney Pass on the Sydney Explorer or use the Bondi Explorer to take in famous Bondi Beach. Another option is a full day trip to the Blue Overnight: Sydney

DAY 6 ­ SATURDAY - SYDNEY ­ THE INDIAN PACIFIC TRAIN
Today you will experience one of the world's longest and greatest train journeys Board The Indian Pacific train at 2:55 PM, bound for Adelaide, South Australia and ultimately to Perth on the Western coast. The great train travels 4352 kilometres via Adelaide, with three nights on board in Red or Gold Kangaroo Service. Overnight: Onboard The Indian Pacific

 

DAY 7 ­ SUNDAY - ARRIVE ADELAIDE ­ THE INDIAN PACIFIC TRAIN
At 6:45 AM you'll arrive in Broken Hill where there will be a short stop, and your train will continue on the way to Adelaide at 8:20 AM. Arrival in Adelaide, South Australia is scheduled for 3:15 PM. Transfer to your hotel for the evening. Adelaide, capital of South Australia is a gracious, spacious and green city with its center protected by parklands. Overnight: Adelaide

DAY 8 ­ MONDAY - KANGAROO ISLAND, AUSTRALIA'S THIRD LARGEST ISLAND
You'll be picked up early for departure to Kangaroo Island. Travel by coach along the Fleurieu Peninsula and then by Sealink ferry to the island. You'll visit Flinders Chase national Park to view wildlife. A stop for lunch is included. An overnight stay allows for an experience with nocturnal wildlife that is rarely seen. Overnight: Kangaroo Island

DAY 9 ­ TUESDAY - KANGAROO ISLAND - ADELAIDE
Continue your discovery of Kangaroo Island. Visit the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch, the turbulent waters around Causarein Islets where fur seals play. At Seal Bay National Park, you can walk among the sea lions. You'll have time to explore the beaches and the cottage industry that make Kangaroo Island truly a unique destination. Later take the short flight from the island back to Adelaide. Overnight: Adelaide

DAY 10 ­ WEDNESDAY - ADELAIDE
After a leisurely morning, you'll enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of the highlights of Adelaide, and travel to the Adelaide Hills with its' quaint villages and stunning distant land and seascapes.
Adelaide has more restaurants per capita than any other Australian city so enjoy the cuisine and the wine. Overnight: Adelaide

DAY 11 ­ THURSDAY - THE INDIAN PACIFIC TRAIN
You'll have part of the day at leisure in Adelaide until it is time to continue your journey across Australia. The Indian Pacific leaves at 6:40 PM and you'll travel across the western part of South Australia Overnight: On board The Indian Pacific

DAY 12 ­ FRIDAY - THE INDIAN PACIFIC TRAIN
Your train continues its westward journey to Kalgoorlie, arriving there at 7:10 PM. The train departs again at 10:40 PM. Overnight: On board The Indian Pacific

DAY 13 ­ SATURDAY - ARRIVE PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Arrive Perth at 9:10 AM where you'll disembark and be transferred to your hotel. Perth is the capital of Western Australia with a feeling of space and light, set on the banks of the sparkling Swan River, a few miles from magnificent beaches of the Indian Ocean. An afternoon sightseeing tour of the park-like city of Perth is a great way to become acquainted with the city. Overnight: Perth

 

DAY 14 ­ SUNDAY ­ PERTH - FREMANTLE
Take a leisurely cruise from Perth to Fremantle, just 19 km southwest of Perth and a colourful busy port at the mouth of the Swan River. Here you can visit the Swan River wineries, Fremantle Arts Centre and the Maritime Museum. Overnight: Perth

DAY 15 ­ MONDAY - PERTH ­ ROTTNEST ISLAND
Board a ferry for Rottnest Island, just 18 miles off the coast of Fremantle. The island is known for its quokkas, small kangaroo-like marsupials. There are beautiful beaches and clear waters. Bicycles are the main form of transport here ­ no private vehicles.

DAY 16 ­ TUESDAY­ THE PINNACLES
Travel by bus and 4 wheel drive vehicle today as you head north with your guide to Nambung National Park, home to The Pinnacles, limestone pillars in the desert landscape and visit beaches along the way. . Overnight: Perth

DAY 17 ­ WEDNESDAY - PERTH TO MELBOURNE ­ COLONIAL TRAMCAR DINNER
Depart Perth today on your flight to Melbourne, Victoria. Transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city. Late afternoon you'll board the converted 1927 tramcar that has become the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant, the first of its kind in the world. You'll cruise the streets of Melbourne as you enjoy fine cuisine and the best of Australian wines and beverages. Overnight: Melbourne

DAY 18 ­ THURSDAY ­ GREAT OCEAN ROAD
Travel by deluxe motorcoach today, along Australia's shipwreck coast, the beautiful southern coastline, where nature reigns supreme. You'll have ample opportunity to stretch your legs along the way as you encounter the Twelve Apostles stone monoliths, Island Arch, Razorback and the rugged coastline with spectacular views. Return to Melbourne late evening. Overnight: Melbourne

DAY 19 ­ FRIDAY- MELBOURNE
Enjoy the sparkling city of Melbourne on your own. You'll want to visit the Victorian Market where Melbournians shop for food, clothing and just about anything is available. Food stalls offer a mix of ethnic choices. Overnight: Melbourne

DAY 20 ­ SATURDAY - MELBOURNE TO CAIRNS, KEWARRA BEACH RESORT
Today you're off to explore the northeastern coast of the state of Queensland. Depart for the airport and your flight to Cairns. Upon arrival you'll transfer a short distance up the coast to the lovely Kewarra Resort with its magnificent stretch of beach on the Coral Sea and the only resort in this location. Overnight: Kewarra Resort

DAY 21 - SUNDAY­ KEWARRA BEACH RESORT
At Kewarra you can enjoy the stretch of private beach which is set between tropical rainforest and a sea sheltered by the Great Barrier Reef. The mouds (Islander word for houses) are furnished to harmonize with the tropical surroundings. For a special evening, you can enjoy a romantic banquet on the beach under the stars of the Southern Cross.

DAY 22 ­ MONDAY ­ GREAT BARRIER REEF CRUISE
Your luxury sailing catamaran 'Ocean Spirit' takes you to the outer reef and the pristine sands of Michaelmas Cay, which is sanctuary to many species of birds. View the underwater world of colorful fish and coral by snorkeling or from a semi-submersible boat. Overnight: Kewarra Resort

DAY 23 ­ TUESDAY - CAIRNS TO SYDNEY
Enjoy the morning at your resort and then depart early afternoon for the airport and your flight to Sydney. Overnight: Sydney Airport Hotel

DAY 24 ­WEDNESDAY - DEPART SYDNEY - ARRIVE USA
Depart Sydney and retrace your route across the Pacific, crossing the International Dateline and the time you "lost" on the way to Australia. Arrive home in Los Angeles and continue homeward the same day with memories of the trip of a lifefime.
